Dartmouth Park
The project consisted of the extensive re-modelling of a semi-detached house in the Dartmouth Park Conservation Area. This large property suffered from a poor relationship with its beautiful south facing garden as the existing circulation spaces offered no views of the garden beyond and, being minimally lit by small west facing openings, created a rather sombre impression. Changes on every floor allowed new views and admitted direct sunlight in to the central stair space. A garden level extension helped create a new open plan kitchen, dining and living space with adjacent garden terrace. Folding steel doors by Fineline https://finelinedoors.co.uk

The oak kitchen units and the new staircase were bespoke elements designed by RPA to blend seamlessly with the architectural elements of the project.
The ensuing quality of light and the views outside provide a dynamic link when moving throughout the building. The plan we eventually finalised has improved flow, and given the house a relaxed yet considered vibe which feels calm and uplifting. Roman’s meticulous attention to detail - particularly in resolving junctions between materials and levels - combined with serious rigour on site, have resulted in a beautiful and intelligently resolved space."
